Independent financial advice (later life finances)
Financial advice can be daunting at the best of times, and even more so when it comes to later life finances. The complexities of the many decisions you or your family may need to face mean that finding someone who understands the financial needs in later life and specialises in this area is vital.
Good financial advice should help you to make clear and informed decisions, knowing that you have had the information and choices presented to you in a way that you understand, and that helps you to make the best choices and decision for you or a family member.
In our capacity as a Local Authority deputy, we are required as good practice to annually receive independent financial advice for our clients. When sourcing our own Independent Adviser, we recognised the need to find someone who is specialises in later life advice, and have confidence in the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA).
SOLLA are a not for profit organisation who help older people and their families find trusted accredited financial advisers who both understand financial needs in later life, and can help them make the best of their financial resources.
SOLLA members are all financial advisers who are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) but who have chosen to take the extra step to achieve the Later Life Adviser Accreditation - widely recognised as the gold standard in financial advice for later life planning. By becoming independently accredited SOLLA advisers offer the added reassurance that they can give the practical help and guidance needed to help you make the right decisions at the right time.
The Later Life Adviser Accreditation is relicensed annually and all advisers undertake a full reaccreditation every five years. Members all follow a strict code of conduct and work with the utmost integrity.
SOLLA members can provide you with advice on the following:
- Retirement planning – pensions and annuities
- Equity release and other property options
- Funding for care home fees
- Funding for care in your own home
- Savings and investments
- Tax matters and estate and wealth planning
